GOTiHe Presents: BigNard’s Album Release - UnBelievAble (Part 1)

This album feels like finding a buried treasure in a hidden tomb of an ancient pharaoh unearthed to bring light to a new era.

Hi everyone, I’m excited to release my first official album “UnBelievAble - The ReAnimation” this December and would love to hear what you think. I figure I will introduce myself and provide some insight into why this album means a lot to me and how it can help you in your life.

This album is a positive hip hop/house/meditation/self help album that broadens the spectrum of who I am as an artist among many things. In fact, we are so many wonderful things that we shouldn’t be boxed into one thing or be monolithic in scope. For example: I’m a poet, IT engineer, rapper, dancer, singer, father, role model, mentor, speaker, entrepreneur, writer, event planner, marathon runner, pilot, online gamer, martial arts enthusiast, game designer, chess player, graphic designer, salesperson, marketing agent, investor, business owner (just to name a few). Think about how many things that make up you? I feel it’s important to have the freedom to express all sides of you regardless of your background. This project is a rebirth of songs I wrote years ago and never released. I was doing it for fun and mostly as a hobby.

I live in the best of both worlds, I’m a music artist but also an infrastructure engineer. I get to experience the artistic beauty of life and explore the nuts and bolts that make it tick. So, this album is a breakthrough for me as I’ve always loved music as a whole. I love listening to many different genres. I consider myself a musician as I love hip-hop but I’m not defined by a specific genre. I go where my heart leads me.

So why is the album called “UnBelievAble - The ReAnimation”? I had a friend tell me about a crazy running event called the Dopey Challenge in Disney and that he was thinking about running it in January. He went on about it is an almost impossible feat that is over 40 miles of running in a single weekend. He ran the New York City marathon and was in the office telling everyone about his experience running through the city. He asked me if I wanted to run the Dopey Challenge with him. He knew that I occasionally run 5k races and trail runs just to stay active. However, threw it out as a challenge I wouldn’t accept. I’ve never heard of it and didn’t even know they had marathons at Disney. I did a little research and found out that it’s during the Disney Marathon Weekend at Disney World. On Thursday you run a 5k race (3.1 miles), Friday a 10k (6.2 miles), Saturday a half marathon (13.1 miles) and finally on Sunday a full marathon (26.2 miles). I thought that this was insane, and I had always dreamt about running a marathon but didn’t run anything over 6 miles (which was extremely rare) so just the thought of running 48 miles was a nightmare. I gave it some thought and (for some reason) I told him that I’m down to run this crazy challenge. People heard me say and it thought I was crazy. He even thought I was joking until I told him I signed up and booked the flight and hotel.

Believe 2 Achieve inspired me to become a better person and was instrumental in my belief that I can achieve the unbelievable and the marathon was just what I needed to test my resolve.

The crazy part of me accepting the challenge was that I signed up in October and the run was the first week of January. This gave me less than 3 months to train for an event that many professional runners thought was insane. I had a tough time completing a 3-mile run, can you imagine running 48.6 miles in 4 days?

When I went to start my first training, which was just me pulling up to the park to go for a 3-mile run, I sat in the car for about an hour having a self-conversation and kept saying this is unbelievable. I had a beat playing in the background and the hook came to me, “You wanna achieve, you gotta believe..” I said it a few times and thought nothing of it. I got out of the car to run but was not motivated until I felt the energy from the believe 2 achieve hook. That’s where UnBelievAble was born. It motivated me to keep going and believe that I am going to complete the Dopey Challenge even though I felt it was something I wouldn’t be able to accomplish. Believe 2 Achieve inspired me to become a better person and was instrumental in my belief that I can achieve the unbelievable and the marathon was just what I needed to test my resolve. If it helped me, I know it can do the same for you, your family, and friends.
