GOTiHe: 3 Simple Ways to Let Your Mind Flow – Listen: (Part 1 continued)

We are what we think and do most, and believe it or not, music is the ultimate mental development tool and in this 3 part series we will explore the benefits of the song [Mind Flow] by BigNard Bernard.

Music is the ultimate form of expression. Have you’ve ever listened to an awesome song in another language and was still able to dance even though you didn’t understand any of the words? Or seen a baby bob their heads and dance to a great song even though they can’t speak? This is because music is universal and transcends language and even culture as it resonates with us on a primal level beyond our consciousness.

Music can be used to guide our thoughts and emotions as well as remind us of events or moments in the past. Can you think of a song that makes you happy? Now think of a song that makes you sad. Ok, now let’s get back to the happy song. 😀 Music can instantly invoke past feelings and experiences simply by hearing it. Every individual has a unique interpretation of music because it is filtered by our life’s experiences. Therefore, one song can be enjoyed by 10 different people for 10 totally different reasons. The same song that is favored by you may be undesirable by others which at times may seem confusing as we think about how impossible it is for anyone to not like such a masterpiece. This is the power of music.

Remember from Part 1, music or soundwaves create vibrations that stimulate the eardrum and is converted to brainwaves therefore we hear music. Music is made up of energy in the form of frequencies and vibrations that can shatter a crystal glass and if it has enough energy, like that of an explosion, it can create sonic or soundwaves that can destroy entire buildings. I prefer to harness the power music in a more subtle and productive manor. I use music’s power to create the ambiance which best suits my intended purpose or goal. As an example I listen to smooth jazz and classical music infused with nature sounds played low when I’m about to do tasks that requires math or strategic thinking. Depending on what I’m writing I have different playlists to set the tone that allows me to focus and achieve Mind Flow.

Mind Flow is achieved in two ways:

  • The first is a controlled deliberate concentration to focus on a specific task, goal or problem you would like to solve.

One example would be to take a brief “Mental Walk” through your day and think of anything you felt you’ve done that was out of harmony with your inner values. Next ask the question “Is there a better way to handle this in the future?” and finally, come up with at least 3 answers. There are no right or wrong answers. Think of it as a “Mental Undo” or “Mind Jump” which is chance to jump back or forward to review or preview a situation and use it as a learning lesson to improve yourself. This is part of the Continuous Improvement Process.

  • The second is allowing our mind to travel inward to explore and better understand ourselves by limiting the constant multitude of outside influences trying to control our thoughts and attention subliminally whether deliberate or unintentional.

I call this “Inner-Sight”, where we are looking inward and looking to know who we are to better understand how we tick. The importance of inner-sight is that it helps us deal with what I call “Brain Hacking”. Our minds are being hacked and exploited daily and awareness of self is like a “Mental Security System” that can detect and quarantine the sometimes malicious programming running in our minds.

Brain Hacking comes in many different forms, but it mainly the psychological manipulation or exploitation of the known flaws of the mind that are done deliberately and mostly subliminally. Just think about the endless websites, blogs, social media, videos and music all competing for our attention. Do you think they are trying to find the best way to influence the most people to purchase their products or services? Now think of how much information do you consume each day and some of it you don’t even realize it.

Whenever you are out and hear music with words playing in the background, even if you aren’t actively listening to it, your mind still processes it, therefore it has access to influence your thoughts. Have you ever heard a song in the store or on the radio that you weren’t actively listening to and a few hours later you find yourself humming the tune or singing the catchy phrase? That is an example of brain hacking and it all happens outside of your conscious awareness.

Brain Hacking: One who exploits many of the brains inherent flaws for their gain.

When someone asks a question our brains automatically answers it regardless if we want to answer the question or not. A brain hacker will use knowledge to force you to answer questions against your will so they can inject thoughts or ideas into your mind for their gain. This can be considered a form of brainwashing.

For example: Try your best NOT to answer the question: “What is your middle name?”

Did you hear your “Inner-Voice” answer it? That’s amazing right?

You answered the question using one of the 3 possible variations below.

  1. You said your middle name.

  2. You don’t have a middle name and therefore answered “I don’t have one.”

  3. You actually don’t know your middle name and you said “I don’t know”.

Let us know in the comments if you were able to resist it. 😉

Mind Flow is using music to take back our minds and protect our thoughts from brain hackers through deliberate self-programming to reach your personal best.

Try the listening exercise below to Mind Flow and let us know what you think?

  1. Listen to Mind Flow by clicking here:

  2. Try to focus on one thing you want to accomplish today and walk through the steps in your mind until you accomplish it.

These exercises can be done anywhere you are as long as you are in a safe place that you can close your eyes.  I would take the express bus from New Jersey into New York City and use noise cancelling headphones and was able to relax and achieve Mind Flow.

Note:  Noise Cancelling Headphones provide a great experience if you’re in a noisy environment.

 Key Questions:

  1. Did you hear your inner-voice when listening?

  2. Were you able to accomplish the task in your mind? Please share your experience.

  3. Did you answer the question “What’s your middle name”? Let us know in the comments
